Job summary

The National Probation Service seeks a Senior Probation Officer to lead the East Midlands Public Protection unit, based at HMP Stocken. You will manage staff, assure quality of practice, oversee risks, and allocate budgets while coordinating with partners.

This permanent full-time role offers hybrid working subject to business needs and requires probation qualifications and Civil Service nationality rules.

Qualifications

• Probation qualification and relevant professional registration.
• Experience leading teams and improving practice quality.
• Ability to interpret performance data and manage risk.

Responsibilities

• Provide management and leadership to the team and be accountable for the quality of practice and team performance.
• Manage staff development, attendance, health and safety, and diversity matters.
• Ensure offender managers manage risk appropriately and meet public protection standards and targets.
• Manage financial resources within regulations and deploy team resources cost-effectively.
• Access, interpret and apply performance data to improve team performance and evaluate practice.
• Contribute to public protection through multi-agency arrangements and casework review.
