Job summary

The Senior Probation Officer supports the Head of Operational Function to provide management and a leading role within a Local Delivery Unit or other operational unit. The post holder will manage and lead staff to required standards, offering cover and support as needed.

In line with NPS policies, the role requires commitment to equality and inclusion, and adherence to confidential information policies. Some out-of-hours work may be necessary and hybrid working is available.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience with Probation/Criminal Justice settings and risk management.
• Experience leading teams to deliver high-quality practice within policy and national standards.
• Able to interpret performance data and translate it into action.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective management and leadership to the team.
• Ensure delivery of good practice and team performance improvements.
• Oversee budget and resources to maximise value and meet strategic aims.
• Manage staff development, attendance, and health and safety.
• Promote diversity and inclusion and engage with multi-agency partners.
• Lead on safeguarding duties and public protection responsibilities.
