Vasto Legal Recruitment Ltd seeks a Contentious Private Client Solicitor (5+ PQE) for its City office. You will manage a broad caseload of disputes involving wills, estates and trusts for HNW clients, delivering practical, commercially aware advice from instruction to resolution.

You will work closely with colleagues across the private client team, building trusted client relationships, contributing to business development and the growth of the contentious offering.

Contentious Private Client Solicitor

The Firm

A modern, highly tiered Legal 500 firm is looking for a Contentious Private Client Solicitor (5+ PQE) to join its City office.

They have an established private client practice, headed up by a ranked partner, and advise individuals, families and business owners on a range of complex and sensitive legal matters.

This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with a strong background in contentious private client work to handle a varied caseload, build client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.

The Role

In this role you will manage a broad range of contentious private client matters, advising clients on disputes involving estates, trusts and succession issues.

You will work closely with clients and colleagues to provide practical, commercially aware advice on often sensitive and high-value matters.

The firm works with a lot of HNW/UHNW clientele and there is a high level of cross over and collaboration between departments, including residential property and family.

You will be:

• Advising on disputes relating to wills, estates and inheritance.
• Handling contentious probate matters, including challenges to the validity of wills.
• Advising on claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.
• Managing disputes involving trusts, trustees and beneficiaries.
• Advising on executor and trustee disputes, including issues concerning the administration of estates and trusts.
• Handling claims involving the interpretation and construction of wills and trust documents.
• Managing matters from initial instruction through to resolution, including negotiation, mediation and litigation where appropriate.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships, providing clear and sensitive advice throughout.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider private client practice.
• Contributing to business development and the continued growth of the contentious private client offering.

Requirements

We are looking for a solicitor with at least 5 years’ PQE and demonstrable experience in contentious private client matters.

You will have a strong understanding of contentious probate, inheritance disputes and trust litigation, together with the ability to manage complex matters independently and deliver clear, practical advice.

You will be confident dealing with clients, managing competing priorities and able to handle sensitive disputes with professionalism and sound commercial judgement.

Strong communication, drafting and negotiation skills are essential. You should also be keen to develop client relationships.
