Job summary

Motus Recruitment Limited seeks a Contentious Probate Solicitor in Reading, with 2+ years of PQE, to join a Legal 500 ranked private client team. You will run your own caseload while supporting colleagues on higher‑value matters and advising on Inheritance Act claims and challenges to wills.

You will handle executor and administrator disputes and advise on Court of Protection and trust disputes, collaborating across private client teams to deliver strong, client‑facing outcomes.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience in contentious trusts and probate and/or civil litigation.
• Ideally some exposure to non-contentious private client work from training or early career.
• Genuine interest in building a career in this specialist area.

Responsibilities

• Run your own caseload while supporting colleagues on larger matters.
• Act for claimants and defendants in Inheritance Act claims and challenges to Wills.

• Advise on Court of Protection disputes and a range of trust disputes.

The Opportunity

• Run your own caseload while supporting colleagues on larger, higher-value matters
• Act for claimants and defendants in Inheritance Act claims and challenges to the validity of Wills
• Handle executor and administrator disputes, including removal applications, and wider estate administration disputes
• Advise on Court of Protection disputes and a range of trust disputes
• Work closely with colleagues across the contentious and non-contentious private client teams

About You

• 2+ years' experience in contentious trusts and probate and/or civil litigation
• Ideally some exposure to non-contentious private client work from training or early career (not essential)
• Genuine interest in building a career in this specialist area
