Job summary

University of Nottingham is seeking an experienced Senior Information Compliance Officer to join the Information Security Division. You will embed privacy management and information governance across the university, supporting departments to meet GDPR, DPA 2018, and related laws.

You will advise, train, and collaborate with senior stakeholders, helping translate complex privacy requirements into practical guidance and ensuring robust privacy controls and responses.

Qualifications

• Experience implementing privacy management in large organisations.
• Ability to translate complex requirements into practical guidance.
• Strong advisory and influencing skills with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments for new projects, assessing legal bases and DPAs.
• Provide guidance on data protection to staff at all levels, promoting privacy by design.
• Support breach investigation processes and liaise with ICO when required.
• Coordinate with Digital Technology Services on IT privacy-related controls and requirements.
• Deliver privacy awareness sessions in-person and virtually.
• Support the DPO and Privacy Adviser in delivering strategic privacy guidance.
