Job summary

QinetiQ seeks a Senior Principal Systems Engineer at its Bristol site to provide technical leadership across major programmes underpinning Trials, Test and Evaluation and the T3E capability.

You will drive on-time, on-cost, on-quality delivery, manage risks, and align engineering strategy with customer requirements while engaging with MOD, T3E Futures and other stakeholders. The role requires SC clearance eligibility and STEM credentials; travel to other sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Proven Technical Leadership across multiple projects or programmes.
• Experience in Defence, Aerospace or related sectors.
• Understanding the role of engineering management in a complex business environment.
• Underpinning knowledge of complex systems development and systems engineering practices.
• Understanding the influence of safety, security and regulatory requirements.
• Strong business and commercial awareness.

Responsibilities

• Acting as the Senior Design Authority (where delegated) and the Senior Engineering Authority.
• Working with Programme Managers to deliver programmes on-time, on-cost, on-quality in a safe and secure manner.
• Ensuring a resilient engineering team, with succession plans and no single points of failure.
• Ensuring technical needs of the IDT are clearly articulated and teams have the right competence.
• Engaging with stakeholders across the customer community (MOD, OGD, T3E Futures, T&E Campaign and beyond).
• Providing guidance, mentoring and advice to Technical Leads and other staff.
