Job summary

PWHytek Ltd are recruiting for a Senior/Principal Project Engineer to support a major programme of work at the Dounreay site. You will join a long-term nuclear project delivering engineering and decommissioning activities at one of the UK's most significant facilities.

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer with a strong understanding of NRS Dounreay processes and procedures who can provide technical and project delivery expertise within a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience as Senior/Principal Project Engineer in nuclear projects.
  • Strong understanding of NRS Dounreay processes and governance.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver engineering projects from conception to completion.
  • Ensure safety, on-time delivery and governance compliance.
  • Liaise with engineering disciplines, project managers and site personnel.
  • Monitor scope, programme, cost and technical delivery.
  • Produce and review project documentation and engineering deliverables.
  • Support risk management, issue resolution and change control.
  • Ensure compliance with nuclear safety and regulatory requirements.

Job description

PWHytek Ltd are currently recruiting for a Senior / Principal Project Engineer to support a major programme of work at the Dounreay site.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term nuclear project, supporting the delivery of key engineering and decommissioning activities at one of the UK's most significant nuclear facilities. We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer with a strong understanding of NRS Dounreay processes and procedures who can provide technical and project delivery expertise within a highly regulated environment.

The Role

Working as part of an established project team, you will be responsible for coordinating and delivering engineering projects from conception through to completion, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time and in accordance with NRS Dounreay governance and project requirements.

The successful candidate will work closely with engineering disciplines, project managers, stakeholders and site personnel to support the successful delivery of complex nuclear projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate engineering activities across multiple project work packages.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in line with NRS Dounreay processes, procedures and governance.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and project stakeholders.
  • Monitor project scope, programme, cost and technical delivery.
  • Produce and review project documentation, technical reports and engineering deliverables.
  • Support risk management, issue resolution and change control activities.
  • Ensure compliance with nuclear safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with internal teams, contractors and clients to support successful project delivery.
Essential Experience
  • Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience operating at Senior or Principal Project Engineer level.
  • Strong background delivering projects within the nuclear industry.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of NRS Dounreay processes and procedures.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and organisational skills.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience supporting decommissioning or waste management projects.
  • Knowledge of project governance, planning and risk management within the nuclear sector.
  • Familiarity with NEC contracts or similar project delivery frameworks.
  • Chartered Engineer or Project Management qualification (or working towards).
