Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Principal Process Engineer to lead the Scottish Water team across Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness. You will set technical direction, assure design quality and influence investment decisions within a diverse portfolio of water and wastewater projects.

You will mentor engineers, contribute to DV4 pipelines, and drive asset resilience, water quality improvements and innovative solutions for Scotland’s water infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Chemical or Process Engineering and Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
• Extensive experience in process engineering within water, wastewater or related sectors.
• Significant technical expertise across water and/or wastewater treatment and process design.
• Proven experience providing senior technical leadership across complex projects.
• Strong understanding of the Scottish water sector, its regulatory environment and standards.
• Experience providing technical governance, design assurance and strategic advice.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management with senior clients.
• Proven experience mentoring and developing technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic process engineering leadership across Scottish Water projects.
• Lead and assure process design, calculations, and technical specifications.
• Provide technical governance and independent review across projects.
• Act as senior technical adviser to Scottish Water and influence investments.
• Support projects through full lifecycle from strategy to delivery.
• Contribute to DV4 programmes and improve water quality and resilience.
• Lead and develop senior engineers within the Scottish Process Engineering team.
• Support growth of Stantec’s Scottish Water business through bids and frameworks.
