Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a Design Engineer to contribute to Building Technology Systems by designing IT networks within buildings, collaborating with mechanical, electrical and plumbing teams, and translating client requirements into detailed, installable designs.

You will work on international projects, progress toward chartership, and enjoy our hybrid policy with two days a week at home, plus development support, Thrive wellbeing benefits and inclusive culture.

Qualifications

• Accredited honours degree or equivalent with Chartership potential.
• RevitMEP training applied to BTS discipline.
• Eligible to live and work in the UK and obtain UK security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed BTS designs for review by colleagues.
• Carry out feasibility studies for project reviews.
• Develop equipment schedules and detailed specifications.
• Work independently with minimal supervision on technical aspects.

Responsibilities

• Building Technology Systems (BTS) – discipline encompassing IT and Communications Network Infrastructure and ELV (Extra Low Voltage) systems
• You will be designing IT networks within buildings, alongside multiple design disciplines
• You will liaise with clients and stakeholders to understand, develop, and interpret their requirements
• You will be implementing the latest leading edge network designs and technologies into the real world applications.
• You will be creating future- ready buildings.

Core Functions

• Work within a BTS discipline team within the Building Services discipline (regular liaison with Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing team) providing design and technical advice on projects lead by seniors or take a discipline lead role on smaller projects
• Complete detailed designs
• Carry out feasibility studies for review by colleagues prior to issue
• Consider the feasibility of the project specific to the discipline and contribute to the overall feasibility study for the project
• Produce detailed and performance specification for the BTS subject to review by colleagues prior to issue
• Produce detailed equipment schedules for issue with the discipline specific designs.
• Ability to work independently using their own initiative with minimal supervision on all technical aspects of their discipline or have specific specialist experience applicable to the role
• Ability to work under the clear direction of others and interpret the needs of the project where applicable to the discipline

Qualifications

• CIBSE/IET/ Engineering Council accredited honours degree or specific experience that will lead to Chartership
• RevitMEP training applied to the discipline
• Any accredited network qualification
