Job summary

General Dynamics Mission Systems in the UK is expanding its hardware engineering team. We seek Senior Hardware Engineer or Principal/Architect Hardware Engineer to lead design of electronic systems, mentor staff and ensure standards compliance. The role offers hybrid work with some office presence in St Leonards-on-Sea and a competitive salary.

You will integrate components, manage timelines and resources, and help deliver avionics platforms for fast jets, helicopters and UAV programs.

Qualifications

• Qualified in hardware, electronics or electronic systems engineering.
• Experience in describing the requirements, functions and interfaces on the component or sub-system.
• Professional registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) is desirable, but not essential; GDMS supports attaining CEng status.
• Experience working with or familiarity with AI/ML models is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware aspects of unit design and development of electronic systems, ensuring they meet performance, reliability, and cost targets.
• Integrate electronic components and systems into larger products, ensuring seamless functionality and performance.
• Demonstrate skills in managing timelines, resources, and project deliverables. Leading and mentoring junior engineers and guiding project teams.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
