Job Title: Senior/Principal Electronic Design Engineer

Do you want to help deliver cutting-edge high fidelity thermal imaging and airborne sensor products?

Due to the growth of the business area, Leonardo has an opportunity for an Electronic Design Engineer to join our Sensors Team.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to develop their skills and knowledge within a thriving organization. You will be part of a dedicated multi-disciplined Integrated Project Team (IPT), working on a full and challenging workload with significant potential for personal and professional growth.

What you will do

• Support our precision guidance (PG) programmes, including new designs and verification planning.
• Perform electronic design analysis, circuit simulation, and prototyping.
• Assist with electronic schematic capture and PCB layout support.
• Design power supply and interface circuits for digital processors and microcontrollers.
• Engage in high-speed digital design, including FPGA, DDR, and high-speed LVDS video designs.
• Test and debug electronic circuits.
• Develop subsystem engineering solutions and specifications.
• Specify cabling and connectors.
• Participate in system and subsystem integration and verification.
• Support qualification activities, including EMC testing.
• Assist in production and delivery support.

Essential requirements

• Experience across all stages of the engineering development lifecycle.
• Knowledge of digital and analogue electronic design.
• Board-level PCB design experience, ideally using Siemens EDA Xpedition Enterprise.
• Experience operating at the product system level.
• Ability to specify and define COTS items and work with subcontract suppliers.
• Experience specifying cable and connector solutions.
• System-level integration skills.
• Ability to make technical decisions within your scope.
• Proactive approach in a fast-moving, dynamic environment.

Preferred qualifications

• Knowledge of safety, security, and legislative constraints.
• Experience in Electronics Warfare and Thermal Imaging Systems.
