Arup is seeking a Senior or Principal Engineer to join the Cardiff Building Engineering team. You will lead electrical building services design across varied projects, coordinating multi-disciplinary work and guiding junior engineers.

The role requires strong client engagement, robust technical approaches and the ability to manage resources and commercial performance. You will contribute to bids and help drive the digital evolution within a collaborative, flexible environment that values

Competenze

• Hold a degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and achieve Chartered Engineer status.
• Proven track record delivering diverse projects with technical leadership.
• Demonstrate ability to lead multi-disciplinary design teams and manage client engagement.

• Experience supervising teams, mentoring colleagues and contributing to bids.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking an enthusiastic Senior or Principal Engineer with strong design, communication and sustainability skills, who thrives in collaborative, multi-disciplinary environments and enjoys taking projects from inception through completion. You’ll bring solid experience in electrical building services across varied project types, along with a proven ability to integrate disciplines and deliver high quality, coordinated design. Joining our creative Cardiff Building Engineering team, you’ll help push boundaries in the built environment, contribute to our digital evolution and lead MEP delivery across local, national and international projects. The role involves ensuring robust technical approaches, overseeing project teams, managing financial performance, engaging directly with clients and guiding junior engineers.

Responsibilities include leading spatial and technical coordination, producing engineering designs and specifications, supervising multidisciplinary work, supporting multiple design teams, mentoring colleagues, contributing to bids and managing project resourcing and commercial performance.

We Are Looking For People Who

• Hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline and have attained Chartered Engineer status through a recognised professional institution such as the IET or CIBSE.
• Demonstrate a strong track record in winning and delivering diverse projects, with the ability to balance engineering priorities across varying scopes and complexities.
• Provide technical leadership to multi-disciplinary design teams, including coordination with external sub-consultants, while applying deep knowledge of sector-specific legislation, regulatory frameworks, and emerging trends.
• Exhibit proven people management capabilities, with experience supporting and guiding team members across all levels to achieve project and professional goal.
• Bring expertise in sustainable building design, ensuring compliance with both regulatory and voluntary standards related to energy strategy and environmental performance.
