We are looking for a dynamic individual, highly competent in Highway Electrical and Street Lighting disciplines. Bristol City Council seeks an experienced officer to deliver highway electrical requirements and disciplines on various electrical assets within the Highway Electrical Asset Team.
The Highway Electrical Asset Team is part of the Highways Maintenance Group within Transport Service, leading efforts to improve, maintain, and develop the city's transport infrastructure for residents, businesses, and visitors. Key activities include maintenance, improvements, and refurbishment of highway and authority-owned estates in the public domain.
The Highways Group manages its own designs and work programs, supports city initiatives and major projects, and provides technical advice to internal and external stakeholders. The group boasts significant expertise to shape the city's future prosperity.
The Highway Maintenance Service comprises five teams covering the city: Area Highways, Strategic Highways, Bridges and Structures, Highway Electrical Assets, and Assets and Contracts, each managed by a Team Manager.
Applicants should possess relevant Electrical and Street Lighting qualifications and experience, with proven electrical asset management skills to support the Highway Electrical Asset Team.
You will have extensive experience in highway electrical asset project delivery, design calculations, compliance, and continuous performance improvement, aligned with departmental and corporate priorities.
You will play a key role in delivering projects like Electric Vehicle Infrastructure, Smart City initiatives, LED city-wide replacements, annual programs, and major works.
The role involves developing street lighting and electrical technology, maintaining and improving electrical infrastructure within BCC estate, working closely with various groups and partners to support growth, economic development, and sustainability agendas.
The role ensures statutory duties are met for maintaining electrical and street lighting assets, ensuring safety and serviceability across the authority.
This position suits a Highway Electrical and Lighting specialist with significant relevant experience, who thrives on responsibility, continuous improvement, and customer focus.
