Senior / Principal Ecological Consultants

Location: Nationwide, UK

The Vacancy

RSK Biocensus, an award-winning CIEEM company and part of the RSK Group, is recruiting Senior / Principal Ecologists to join their growing UK ecology team. The roles are based in Helsby, East Anglia, Cardiff, Coventry, Bristol, Hemel Hempstead, and Tonbridge. These are permanent and full-time positions, with part-time work considered for the long term. The work will be mixed, involving both home and office attendance at one of the listed locations.

As an Ecologist at RSK Biocensus, you will be involved in managing and delivering all aspects of field surveys, assessments, tender and report writing, and project management.

Key Responsibilities

• Serving as the primary contact for clients, initially working from site offices as part of project teams and supporting during construction and restoration phases.
• Advising on and coordinating all ecology-related aspects of projects.
• Supporting the ECoW team and conducting field surveys as needed.
• Preparing reports, technical notes, method statements, and other documents.
• Liaising with technical experts regarding licensing, surveys, and mitigation requirements.
• Managing work related to licences for protected species.
• Collaborating with the RSK project team, including project directors, managers, finance, resourcing, data managers, GIS, and coordinators, to ensure smooth project delivery and support.

Person Specification

• Degree in a relevant discipline or vocational qualification.
• Relevant experience, ideally with large projects.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Species-specific personal licences are desirable.
• Full membership with CIEEM or working towards it.
• Adherence to CIEEM’s Code of Professional Conduct.
• Working towards Chartership (CEcol or CEnv).
