Job summary

International private engineering consultancy in the UK is seeking a Senior/Principal Bridge Engineer to strengthen its Bridges team across multiple locations including Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Bristol.

You will lead the technical delivery of bridge design and assessment, support feasibility studies, inspections and strengthening programmes, and mentor junior engineers within a busy, globally connected project portfolio.

Qualifications

• Chartered status with ICE or IStructE, or working towards Chartership.
• Strong experience across design, assessment, maintenance, repair and/or strengthening of bridges.
• Experience in both design-office and construction/site environments.
• Experience leading elements of bridge engineering projects.
• Knowledge of DMRB and MCHW for structural/bridge schemes.
• Good understanding of Eurocodes and their practical application.
• Experience designing or assessing steel, reinforced concrete and/or prestressed concrete bridges.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as LUSAS, Superstress or SAM.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
• Ability to provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.

I’m currently representing a highly successful international private engineering consultancy who are looking to strengthen their established Bridges team with an experienced Senior or Principal Bridge Engineer in a variety of locations across the UK.

(Locations are: Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester & Bristol)

The Role

As a Senior/Principal Bridge Engineer, you will play a key role in the technical delivery of bridge and civil engineering projects, working closely with clients, colleagues and multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Delivering the design and assessment of bridge structures across a range of UK and international projects.
• Working across bridge inspection, assessment, strengthening, repair and maintenance schemes.
• Supporting feasibility studies, options appraisals and the development of engineering solutions.
• Producing technical reports, calculations, specifications, drawings, risk assessments and cost estimates.
• Providing technical input and support across wider civil and structural engineering projects.

My client is looking for an experienced bridge engineer operating at Senior or Principal level, with a strong technical background in the design, assessment and delivery of bridge structures.

Ideally, you will have:

• Chartered status with ICE, IStructE or an equivalent professional institution, or be working towards Chartership.
• Strong experience across bridge design, assessment, maintenance, repair and/or strengthening.
• Experience working across both design-office and construction/site environments.
• Experience managing or leading elements of bridge engineering projects.
