Job summary

International private engineering consultancy in the UK is seeking a Senior/Principal Bridge Engineer to strengthen its Bridges team across multiple locations including Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Bristol.

You will lead the technical delivery of bridge design and assessment, support feasibility studies, inspections and strengthening programmes, and mentor junior engineers within a busy, globally connected project portfolio.

Qualifications

• Chartered status with ICE or IStructE, or working towards Chartership.
• Strong experience across design, assessment, maintenance, repair and/or strengthening of bridges.
• Experience in both design-office and construction/site environments.
• Experience leading elements of bridge engineering projects.
• Knowledge of DMRB and MCHW for structural/bridge schemes.
• Good understanding of Eurocodes and their practical application.
• Experience designing or assessing steel, reinforced concrete and/or prestressed concrete bridges.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as LUSAS, Superstress or SAM.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
• Ability to provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Deliver design and assessment of bridge structures across UK/international projects.
• Contribute to bridge inspection, assessment, strengthening, repair and maintenance schemes.
• Support feasibility studies and options appraisals with engineering solutions.
• Produce technical reports, calculations, drawings, risk assessments and cost estimates.
• Provide technical input across wider civil and structural projects.
• Manage elements of projects including programme, budget, quality and client requirements.
• Provide guidance and supervision to junior engineers and CAD technicians.
