Job summary

Deploy Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Senior Primary Design Engineer to lead and deliver high-quality primary designs for HV substations and power infrastructure projects. You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams, working on challenging infrastructure assignments.

This role supports hybrid or remote work while staying connected to project teams.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant experience in primary design for HV substations (33kV–400kV).
• Knowledge of UK/international standards and utility requirements.
• Chartered status desirable or working toward Chartered Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of primary engineering solutions for HV substations and associated infrastructure.
• Produce and review primary design deliverables including layouts, GA drawings, equipment specifications, and technical reports.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, client specifications, and safety requirements.
• Provide technical guidance, checking, and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Interface with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support project planning, cost estimates, and risk assessment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards.
