Deploy Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Senior Primary Design Engineer to lead the primary engineering design for HV substations and power infrastructure projects, mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with project managers, clients and multidisciplinary teams.

The role offers hybrid or remote working options, exposure to major infrastructure and energy transition projects, and a supportive, collaborative team environment under strong leadership.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant experience in primary design within HV substations (33kV-400kV).
• Solid knowledge of UK/international standards and utility requirements.
• Experience leading design tasks and mentoring juniors; Chartered status desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of primary engineering solutions for HV substations and associated infrastructure.
• Produce and review primary design deliverables including layouts, GA drawings, equipment specifications, and technical reports.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, client specifications, and safety requirements.
• Provide technical guidance, checking, and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Interface with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support project planning, cost estimates, and risk assessment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards.
