Job summary

Deploy Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Senior Primary Design Engineer to lead the design of primary HV substations and power infrastructure. You will deliver high quality designs, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with project managers and clients.

This role offers hybrid or remote working options within a FTSE 250 backed environment, with exposure to major infrastructure projects and energy transition initiatives.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• Significant experience in primary design for HV substations (33kV-400kV)
• Strong knowledge of UK/international standards and utility requirements
• Proven ability to lead design tasks and review others' work
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer status (desirable)

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of primary engineering solutions for HV substations and related infrastructure
• Produce and review layouts, GA drawings, equipment specs, and technical reports
• Ensure designs comply with standards, client specs and safety requirements
• Provide technical guidance, checking, and mentoring to junior engineers
• Interface with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
• Support project planning, cost estimates and risk assessment
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards
