Job summary

Willmott Dixon is seeking a Senior Preconstruction Manager to lead our preconstruction team in Hitchin, overseeing multiple disciplines including Estimating, Planning and Project Management. You will shape opportunities, drive winning, commercially robust solutions, and guide senior managers to perform at their best in a high-stakes pipeline.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in preconstruction within a main contracting environment.
• Track record leading complex bids and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Experience with single and two-stage tenders worth £10m–£100m.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preconstruction team across multiple disciplines and projects.
• Provide direction and support to senior managers.
• Set clear priorities and focus on the right opportunities.
• Lead major bids from early engagement through to contract signing.
• Develop bid strategies ensuring alignment of technical, commercial and operational teams.
• Challenge risk, design, methodology, programme, logistics and procurement strategies.
• Ensure bids are competitive, commercially robust and deliverable.
• Build strong relationships with customers and key external stakeholders.
• Work closely with operational teams to ensure smooth transition from pre-construction into delivery.
• Develop people and raise the standard of pre-construction capability.
