Job summary

Industrial Hydraulic Services Ltd is seeking a Workshop Machinist/Fitter to operate Colchester lathes and milling machines, turning precision parts from drawings and samples. You will read machine drawings, dismantle and service hydraulic components, and prepare pricing reports.

A minimum of 5 years' machining experience and strong quality focus are required. The role is based in the UK, with a 40-hour week, overtime opportunities, and a pension after probation.

Qualifications

• Eligible to work within the UK, no sponsorship will be offered.
• Proficiency with lathe & milling equipment.
• Minimum 5 years' experience operating lathes & milling machinery.
• Hands-on experience in an engineering/machine shop environment.
• Ability to interpret part drawings from provided information.
• Meet delivery deadlines and work well with others.
• Strong planning, organisation & communication skills.
• Commitment to quality, safety & continuous improvement.
• Demonstrate ability to work independently & collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Time served engineer.
• NVQ Level 2/3 or higher in mechanical engineering desirable.

Responsibilities

• Operate machining equipment such as Colchester lathes & milling machines.
• Machine precision parts such as piston rods & bushes from samples or drawings.
• Read and interpret machine drawings.
• Strip down and access mechanical/hydraulic equipment like cylinders, motors, gearboxes & actuators.
• Compile job sheets & reports for pricing.
