Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 8a Technical Lead - Pre-Treatment to lead and develop a busy pre-treatment team comprising Team Leaders, Senior Radiographers and Radiographers. You will oversee complex radiotherapy techniques, contribute to service development, and participate in external meetings while ensuring staff welfare, training, and robust workforce planning.

Qualifications

• Qualified Radiographer (e.g. Diploma of the College of Radiographers -- Therapy / Degree in Therapeutic Radiography).
• Current state registration.
• Masters level or equivalent or willingness to work towards.
• Attendance of recent postgraduate courses and study days.
• Commitment to continuing professional development and progression of specialist expertise.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing support and development to a team of Team Leaders, Senior Radiographers and Radiographers.
• Act as Technical Lead supporting your team with complex techniques and patient-centered solutions.
• Lead day-to-day management and represent the department at external meetings.
• Lead and develop staff and services within pre-treatment, with strategic plans for future development.
• Serve as a resource for Clinicians, Radiographers and Medical Physics staff.
• Lead people strategies, workforce planning, culture and inclusion initiatives.
• Participate in the technical lead rota, including extended day working and occasional weekends.
