Qualified Social Worker
Senior Practitioner - Safeguarding

Location: North East

Pay rate: £32 per hour

We are seeking experienced and passionate Senior Practitioner Qualified Social Workers to join a dedicated Safeguarding team. As part of the Safeguarding team for a local authority in the North East, you will work in a busy, supportive environment assessing and working with children and families, intervening where children need support to provide help at an earlier stage.

In accordance with social care legislation and local government requirements, and guided by the values and principles of social care, you will support the delivery of person-centred, safe, and effective social care services. Using your professional knowledge and experience, you will make assessments and decisions about appropriate interventions. Your excellent communication skills will help you establish and maintain relationships with service users and other agencies to ensure services meet identified needs.

You'll be committed to achieving positive and sustainable outcomes through your interventions. By applying best practices, you'll strive to deliver the best outcomes for children. Most importantly, you'll have a passion for supporting children and their families to thrive and flourish. Our priority is to protect the most vulnerable and operate efficiently.

Ideal candidate will be:

  • Registered with Social Work England as a qualified Social Worker
  • Experienced in working with children and families, including vulnerable groups
  • Creative, flexible, and forward-thinking
  • Knowledgeable of Child Protection legislation and issues
  • Committed to continuous improvement for the best outcomes
  • Skilled in mediation and negotiation on behalf of service users
  • Able to build meaningful relationships with children and families to engage them in assessments and plans
  • Dedicated to providing high-quality services
  • Experienced in working within multi-disciplinary, interagency teams
  • 4+ years qualified

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of risks, protection, and social care needs
  • Manage an agreed caseload
  • Use specialist communication skills to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Devise individual care plans, considering diversity and promoting dignity and empowerment
  • Provide advice and support to unqualified staff and students for development
