Job summary

London Borough of Harrow is seeking a Senior Practitioner to join the Transition/Young Adulthood team. The post holder will provide advice and support to social workers and care managers on casework, and will back up the social worker on duty to ensure concerns are acted upon promptly.

You will also support the Team Manager by acting as Safeguarding Adults Manager as required and perform Duty Manager duties.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of Adults legislation and local policies.
• In-depth understanding of London multi-agency safeguarding guidelines.
• Significant safeguarding adults’ enquiry experience.
• Experience supervising social workers, care managers, or students.
• Experience presenting cases at Strategy Meetings or Case Conferences.
• Registration with Social Work England is required.

Responsibilities

Job description

Overview

London Borough of Harrow is looking for a Senior Practitioner to join our Transition /Young Adulthood team.

The post holder will provide advice and support to social workers and care managers in the team on casework, in addition to the social worker on duty, so that incoming concerns are acted upon in a timely and appropriate manner.

You will also support the Team Manager by acting as the Safeguarding Adults Manager (formal SAM role under the multi-agency London procedures) as required and act as Duty Manager when needed.

Furthermore, you will undertake some complex enquiries, liaising with both internal and external colleagues as appropriate, and be required to record actions and decisions in a clear and robust way on the Mosaic database.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• Extensive knowledge of the legislation/policies that relate to the Adults agenda (details recorded on the role profile)
• Detailed working knowledge of the London multi-agency guidance/procedures for safeguarding adults and “Making Safeguarding Personal”
• Significant experience in carrying out safeguarding adults’ enquiries
• Experience of providing professional supervision to social workers, care managers, and/or students
• Experience of presenting cases at Strategy Meetings/Case Conferences
• Ability to present information about safeguarding adults’ cases
• Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW or equivalent)
• Registration with Social Work England
• Commitment to working occasional unsocial hours
• Ability to travel for business purposes
