Job summary

Coventry City Council's Children’s Services seeks a Senior Practitioner to lead and deliver services for children, young people and families. You will provide professional supervision, ensure compliance with Social Work England, and help develop the team while meeting diverse needs, including working outside standard hours.

Applicants must have current registration with Social Work England and knowledge of legislation, care management and child protection.

Qualifications

• Current registration with Social Work England.
• Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
• Experience with assessment methods, care management and casework.
• Experience in statutory work in childcare/child protection.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with children, young people and families.

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage risk in complex and urgent situations.
• Provide professional advice and guidance to other agencies and professionals.
• Supervise and support other staff in the team.
• Contribute to development and improvement of the service.
• Maintain high standards of practice and record keeping.
