Job summary

National Energy System Operator Limited (NESO) is hiring Power System Engineers to join the Strategic Energy Planning function. You will help develop and analyse network plans, run power system studies, and translate outputs into actionable insights to inform GB's energy strategy.

Roles include Power System Engineers at L6-8 with hybrid working from office and home. You will collaborate with TOs, DNOs, offshore developers and NESO colleagues to deliver resilient, low-carbon solutions and support

Qualifications

• Knowledge of GB transmission or distribution planning processes (NOA or connection studies) is beneficial.
• Knowledge of the GB grid code, SQSS and system operation.
• Understanding of power system planning and operation concepts.
• Experience with DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD and scripting for automation.
• Strong written and verbal communication to explain technical issues clearly.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Interest in NESO's role in achieving net zero by 2030.

Responsibilities

• Develop and analyse network plans to support power system requirements.
• Lead power system studies to assess performance and constraints.
• Collaborate with TOs, DNOs, offshore developers and NESO colleagues.
• Translate modelling outputs into actionable insights for strategy.
• Write technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.
