Job summary

SR2 | Socially Responsible Recruitment | Certified B Corporation™ is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Motor Test Engineer for a UK defence startup. The role is hands-on, owning test development, characterisation and verification of high-performance power electronics and drive systems.

Initial focus on power electronics with potential expansion into motor testing and broader verification. The position is permanent, onsite in Reading, offering significant ownership and the chance to build test

Qualifications

• Significant experience in test, development or characterisation of power electronics or motor drives.
• Hands-on testing of efficiency, thermal performance and electrical behaviour.
• Experience with test rigs, fixtures and instrumentation design.
• Ability to define methodologies and interpret results for engineering decisions.
• Experience with Python or LabVIEW for test automation and data acquisition.
• Understanding of measurement uncertainty and traceability.
• Experience with high-power electrical systems and rotating equipment.
• Experience in aerospace, defence or high-integrity testing environments.

Responsibilities

• Own development, characterisation and verification of power electronics and drives.
• Design and build test rigs, fixtures and instrumentation for testing.
• Define test methodologies and analyse results to support development.
• Develop test capability and methodologies from ground up; possible leadership growth.
