This role owns the search infrastructure as a product, setting the quality bar, the tradeoffs, and the roadmap with the evaluation team and customer success. As a hands-on senior IC reporting to the Director of Product, you will shape where our index goes next and defend choices that best serve real user workflows, balancing

Qualifications

• 5+ years of product management experience in high-scale search/ranking systems.
• Background as an engineer, ML engineer, or researcher on production systems in relevant areas.
• Direct experience shipping a search/ranking change end-to-end, including evaluation and post-ship outcomes.
• Strong data foundation: design experiments, read eval results, distinguish signal from noise.
• Product judgment to decide what to build and defend to engineers and customers.
• Strong understanding of LLMs, AI agents, and retrieval in agentic workflows.
• Comfort with ambiguity, bridging strategy and execution without losing thread.
• Ability to influence and align cross-functional stakeholders without formal authority.

Responsibilities

• Set the quality bar and release criteria for search based on use case.
• Own the depth, latency, and cost tradeoffs across search products.
• Shape the direction of the index in terms of coverage and freshness.
• Develop a roadmap for search infrastructure as agents become main consumers.
• Compare with alternatives and close gaps that matter for customers.
• Collaborate with customer success to understand real-workflow gaps and prioritise quality.
• Coordinate with data and vertical product owners on corpus requirements and result shaping.
