Job summary

Hydrogen Group seeks a Senior Platform Engineer to build the services and infrastructure behind portfolio risk and analytics calculations. You will turn analytical models into reliable production services, creating APIs, cloud processing and workflows that link portfolio data with calculation engines to deliver results to existing systems.

You’ll provide hands-on technical leadership across the team, guide architecture, and enforce engineering standards while collaborating with model developers

Senior Platform Engineer – Risk Services & Calculation Infrastructure

£100,000–£150,000 base + strong additional compensation

Hybrid, 2 days/week in the office - London

We’re looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to build the services and infrastructure behind portfolio risk and analytics calculations.

You’ll turn analytical models into reliable production services, building APIs, cloud processing and workflows that connect portfolio data with calculation engines and deliver results to existing systems. There is also scope to provide hands‑on technical leadership across the wider team.

The role

• Build Python APIs and calculation services.
• Develop cloud-based processing for scheduled batch and on‑demand jobs.
• Implement containers, orchestration and queues, with robust retries and recovery.
• Integrate SQL data sources and downstream systems, ensuring accurate, traceable inputs and outputs.
• Build deployment pipelines, monitoring and security controls.
• Support model versioning and auditable calculation runs.
• Work with quantitative developers to translate analytical requirements into scalable, maintainable software.
• Guide architecture, code reviews and engineering standards.

What you’ll bring

• Strong production Python and backend engineering experience.
• API design, cloud services and containerised workloads.

• CI/CD, monitoring, security and production troubleshooting.
• An understanding of data flows through calculation-heavy applications. Experience with portfolio analytics, risk systems or batch processing is desirable, as is hands‑on technical leadership. The priority is dependent production engineering. You’ll collaborate with model developers, who own the underlying financial mathematics.
