Job summary

Tempest Vane Partners in London is seeking a Senior Python Developer to join their risk technology team. You will help revamp and rebuild core risk components to be scalable and resilient for internal risk managers and external clients.

The role requires modern Python expertise, strong SQL, and experience with distributed systems, data pipelines and cloud microservices (Kubernetes, Docker). Familiarity with Kafka/Kinesis and orchestration tools (Airflow or Dagster) is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience, ideally within financial markets.
• Strong programming skills with Python and SQL
• Knowledge of distributed systems and messaging technologies (Kafka, Kinesis or similar)
• Experience with data engineering (relational databases, building data pipelines, Lakehouse systems, etc)
• Experience with cloud, container and micro service infrastructures (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker, Helm)
• Knowledge of data modelling, data warehousing, and ETL design patterns
• Experience with workflow orchestration and scheduling platforms (Airflow, Dagster or similar)

A leading technology driven hedge fund is looking for a Senior Python Developer to join their risk technology team here in London. Having gone through a period of growth since venturing into new asset classes, there is a need to revamp and rebuild some key components of their risk systems used by Risk Managers and Risk Analysts across the firm. The successful Senior Python Developer will be working on these projects with the goal to make the platform more scaleable and resilient for both internal stakeholders and external clients.

To be considered for this role, the successful applicant should have extensive experience building Python systems using modern architecture and with a focus on scalability. Prior experience working in risk is not required, although prior experience working in financial markets would be advantageous.
