Oak is a fully remote, UK-based not-for-profit delivering high-quality curriculum resources. We seek a Senior Platform Engineer to improve observability, performance and security across our cloud services, enabling fast, reliable delivery for teachers and pupils.

The role emphasizes automation, IaC and cross‑functional collaboration in a fully remote setting. You’ll work with designers, researchers and education experts to implement scalable, secure platform solutions and guide squads toward

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience leading the continuous improvement of cloud-based platform services, including event-driven and serverless architectures (e.g. Google Cloud Run, AWS Lambda or Azure Serverless).
• Designing and implementing observability, monitoring and reporting solutions for complex cloud infrastructures in a major cloud provider (GCP, AWS or Azure).
• Experience in infrastructure-as-code tools and practices, promoting reproducibility across cloud environments.
• Security controls for cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines, including secrets management and least-privilege principles.
• Ability to translate technical platform priorities for non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the continuous improvement of observability, performance, reliability and security across Oak’s cloud infrastructure and platform services.
• Shape the strategy for monitoring, logging and reporting so developers gain meaningful insight into application behavior.
• Promote a culture of quality and use of SLOs/SLAs to maintain service quality.
• Lead adoption and maintenance of infrastructure as code across cloud platforms; promote reproducibility and auditability.
• Improve developer experience across platform tools and gather feedback to inform priorities.
• Identify and implement automations to speed development, improve security or raise quality.
