Your mission is to build technology platform enablers that accelerate value delivery with higher quality whilst reducing cognitive load for our customer-facing data & AI engineering teams.

Data & AI powers our growth and innovation. We build enterprise platforms to create actionable insight enabling colleagues to make effective decisions and create proactive, automated, hyper-personalised experiences for our customers. We have a growing data and AI team in the UK and Netherlands, supporting data-hungry consumers and platforms across Marketing, Finance, Operations and Product teams. Our AI photo services are central to our consumer experience, and we are expanding towards decentralised ML adoption. We are consolidating legacy infrastructure and moving into a phase of growth.

We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join our newly-created Domain Platform Engineering sub-team within the Data & AI engineering domain. The sub-team’s goal is to define and deliver technology platform enablers that accelerate value delivery with higher quality whilst reducing cognitive load for our customer-facing engineering teams. The primary customers are the data engineering and AI engineering teams. We see an opportunity to grow our footprint to provide data platform enablers for the organisation to support a decentralised-by-design data strategy in the medium to long term. We’re looking for a cloud engineer with experience or aptitude in data & AI who cares about building platforms that are heavily used, advocates for automation and infrastructure as code, and has built adoptable, scalable platforms that improve developer experience for teams in the data & AI domain.

How You Make Your Mark:

• Build technology enablers that improve the domain’s DORA metrics (cycle time, deployments, change failure rate, mean time to recovery)
• Automate provisioning, deployment, and scaling to minimise manual intervention and errors
• Standardise environments and processes across the data & AI domain to reduce complexity and improve reliability
• Improve developer experience with data governance tools, data ingest as a service, and DevOps tooling to let engineers focus on the application layer (e.g. ELT data modelling, data governance, and AI model building)
• Build scalable platforms with a self-serve consumption model to promote best-practice engineering
• Embed security and compliance into platform design to protect data and meet standards
• Mentor and upskill other platform, data, and AI engineers to adopt initiatives
