Job summary

Mastek in Leeds is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design, build and maintain scalable platform solutions on AWS with a focus on automation and reliability.

You will collaborate with product and infrastructure teams, implement CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub Actions, and bring IaC expertise with CloudFormation or Terraform to optimise cloud resources and deployment processes.

Qualifications

• Senior Platform Engineer with solid software engineering principles.
• Experience scripting and pipeline automation (Jenkins and GitHub Actions).
• Strong understanding of cloud services (AWS) and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Experience of working closely with development and infrastructure teams to implement solutions.
• Adept at leveraging automation to improve development processes and optimise software delivery.
• Ability to cooperate with engineers and product teams including designers, product managers, and analysts.
• Hands on CloudFormation scripting, troubleshooting and debugging.
• Working knowledge of Chef, scripting and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Python scripting and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Jenkins pipelines (multibranch), deployments, groovy scripting.
• Experience with Linux commands and troubleshooting web services.
• Experience with AWS services - EC2, NLB, API Gateway, ASG, etc.

Job description

• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable platform solutions. Including monitoring, managing and optimising cloud-based (AWS) resources.


• Feed engineering insight and experience into the wider Strategy and Architecture team to identify opportunities to improve engineering across the whole organisation.


• Document all procedures and policies for maintaining and improving system infrastructure.


• Implement automation tools and frameworks (CI/CD pipelines) for efficient and secure deployment and operations. Whilst also working with development teams to facilitate the deployment and operation of systems.

Skills Required:

Minimum

• Experience as a Senior Platform Engineer including a solid understanding of software engineering principles and their application.


• Experience of Scripting and pipeline automation (e.g. Jenkins and GitHub Actions).


• Strong understanding of cloud services (AWS) and containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).


• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform.


• Experience of working closely with development and infrastructure teams to quickly understand requirements and implement solutions.


• Adept at leveraging automation to improve development processes and optimise software delivery.
