Elanco IT has undergone an exciting transformation, building a modern technology stack free of large-scale technical debt. We are now expanding our engineering capabilities to deliver faster and more effective solutions. This role is part of our enterprise platform engineering team focused on security, reliability, and efficiency. You will work on cloud automation, develop solutions to automate manual processes, and contribute to a growing, skilled engineering organization. The role is ideal for AI enthusiasts interested in exploring AI’s possibilities, as we have recently established AI capabilities.

To succeed, you need to be motivated, innovative, and capable of articulating complex technical topics. Collaboration with external partners and ensuring quality delivery are essential.

Your Responsibilities:

1. Engineering:

• Assist the Principal Platform Engineer in shaping platform and automation strategies.
• Collaborate on initiatives to enhance security, reliability, and efficiency using cutting-edge technology.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within our ecosystem.
• Contribute expertise to shape team direction and enable better support for application and operational teams.
• Provide coaching and mentorship to junior team members.

Daily / Monthly Responsibilities:

• Ensure robust support for Platform Engineering, integrating into incident management.
• Engage in coding, building, governing, and maintaining solutions.
• Deliver high-quality technical outputs as part of a scrum team.
• Design and implement automation for manual IT and business processes.
• Modernize software development with CI/CD practices.
• Partner with vendors and internal teams to support automation adoption and security.
• Mentor junior engineers and support application teams in deployment and usage.
• Resolve complex technical issues with effective solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Proven experience in delivering software products.
• Programming skills in Typescript and experience with Python.
• Willingness to learn AI/ML frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch.
• Operational experience maintaining and supporting products.
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD, TDD, and SDLC.
• Effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience working within an agile environment.
• Ability to define and implement large-scale digital solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with AI/ML frameworks and deploying AI solutions.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, Google Cloud) and AI tools.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible, and Packer.
• Familiarity with cloud cognitive services and security protocols.
• Support experience for digital platforms, including integrations and release management.

Additional Information: Travel may be required. Location: Hook, UK - Hybrid Work Environment.
