Job summary

Barclays is seeking a senior Solution Architect to set the strategic direction for complex IT systems within the PBWM architecture team. You will lead solution architects, drive architecture decisions and champion best practices across the bank’s technology organisation.

You will influence governance, mentor teams, and collaborate with risk, engineering and business partners to deliver scalable, compliant architectures in a regulated financial services environment.

Qualifications

• Significant experience as a senior Solution Architect or CTO-level leader.
• Experience designing enterprise-scale integration fabrics exposing business capabilities to clients, colleagues and AI/agentic channels.
• Proven ability to define architecture patterns for APIs, event streaming, messaging, webhooks and asynchronous processing.
• Strong understanding of channel decoupling strategies and orchestration vs choreography.

Responsibilities

• Set the banks strategic architecture direction for specialist technology areas and oversee solution architects.
• Lead and coordinate design initiatives across engineering teams to resolve complex problems.
• Develop and promote architectural standards, guidelines and governance to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
• Mentor colleagues and contribute to architecture governance and learning across the team.
