Job summary

Barclays is seeking a PBWM Platforms Principal Architect to lead the banks most complex IT systems and platforms. The role is permanent, on-site, within Private Bank Processing, and requires senior architectural leadership to drive scalable, secure solutions.

You will engage with engineers, tech leaders, risk, and business stakeholders up to CIO/COO levels, shaping architecture standards and governance while mentoring the team to maturity.

Qualifications

• Extensive track record leading as a senior architect or CTO-level leader.
• Design enterprise-scale integration fabrics exposing capabilities across channels.
• Define architecture patterns for APIs, event streaming, messaging, and webhooks.
• Establish channel decoupling strategies between journeys and systems of record.
• Translate strategic direction into practical, scalable solutions.
• Strong stakeholder management across CIO/COO levels.
• Experience in large, regulated financial services environments.
• Focus on security, performance, reuse, and simplicity.

Responsibilities
