Job summary

RM Contractors Ltd is seeking a Senior Plant Controller to support the Plant Manager in organising plant, machinery and tools across construction sites. The role includes supervising Regional Plant Controller teams and ensuring cross-regional productivity and cost efficiency.

You will lead plant movements, coordinate with site managers and transport teams, and provide timely financial reports and KPI analyses to drive performance and value across the business.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role managing plant, machinery and tools across construction sites.
• Ability to oversee cross-regional workloads and coordinate multiple teams.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills for KPI reports and cost management.

• Oversee all aspects of plant requirements cross-regionally with Regional Plant Controllers, Site Managers and Contracts/Construction Managers.
• Lead and support Regional Plant Controller and Hire Controller teams day-to-day.
• Coordinate allocation, movement and availability of company-owned plant across projects and sites.
• Collaborate with Site Managers, Transport teams and operations to ensure equipment is available when needed.
• Provide senior leadership with financial performance, damage and fuel reports and KPI insights.

We are currently seeking a Senior Plant Controller. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to the Plant Manager in arranging for plant, machinery and tools across construction sites. The successful candidate will also provide support and supervision to the wider Regional Plant Controller teams and their respective regions.

The Successful Applicant will:

• Have previous experience in a similar role and be well-versed in delivering high-class service using product knowledge and expertise to fulfil programme demands while balancing cost-efficiency.
• Oversee cross-regional workloads, and can multi-task department demand, planning and prioritising quickly in a fast-moving environment.
• English GCSE Grade 4/C, Level 2 Functional Skills, or equivalent
• Mathematics GCSE Grade 4/C, Level 2 Functional Skills, or equivalent

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Oversee all aspects of plant requirements cross-regionally, working closely with Regional Plant Controllers, Site Managers and Contracts/Construction Managers to ensure effective productivity.
• Lead and support Regional Plant Controller and Hire Controller teams day-to-day, ensuring effective communication and consistent processes across the maintained business area.
• Coordinate the allocation, movement and availability of company-owned plant and equipment across internal projects and sites.
• Work closely with a variety of teams, Site Managers, Transport teams and operations to coordinate plant movements and ensure equipment is readily available when required.
• Provide senior leadership with timely and accurate financial performance, damage and fuel reports and provide KPI analysis and actionable insights where required.
• Oversee weekly gas, oil and diesel for plant and machinery cross-regionally.
• Work closely with diesel suppliers for best rates and ensure the best possible service is given cross-regionally to meet business requirements.
• Supporting the Plant Manager with day-to-day team management and assisting the Plant Manager to ensure the best possible service is given to meet all Plant business requirements.

o Contract Type: Permanent

o Weekly Hours: 07:30 to 16:30

o Holiday Allowance: 23 days plus bank holidays, with additional holiday based on service. For part-time employees, holiday entitlement will be calculated on a pro-rata basis
