Job Opportunity: Planning Solicitor

Leading planning practice in Birmingham is looking to appoint an experienced planning solicitor at either senior or principal associate level.

This international law firm in Birmingham has one of the leading planning practices in the country, operating nationally from Birmingham and London. They handle high-profile developments across various sectors and offer comprehensive advice on planning law, highways, compulsory purchase, and compensation. Their work ranges from strategic advice on complex planning applications and infrastructure projects to appeals and court litigation.

The Planning team is known for providing commercially sound and clear advice to developers, landowners, housebuilders, retailers, and local authorities. Their involvement includes:

1. Advising on major commercial development projects, including office, retail, and logistics schemes;
2. Representing major housebuilders on residential-led strategic projects involving up to 5,000 homes;
3. Handling infrastructure projects, including Development Consent Orders, especially in highways and strategic rail freight sectors;
4. Managing compulsory purchase work for both authorities and objectors, particularly in large housing and regeneration projects, including compensation claims and referrals to the Upper Tribunal.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years’ PQE, with the ability to manage their own caseload efficiently, stay calm under pressure, and prioritize effectively.
