Job summary

Telford & Wrekin Council is seeking an experienced Principal Planning Officer to lead major planning applications and strategic development projects. The role involves working with developers, stakeholders and elected members to deliver high-quality outcomes under a 3-month contract.

Hourly rate is £44.00–£57.00, with a strong requirement for RTPI postgraduate qualification, Chartered RTPI membership and active CPD, plus a full UK driving licence and flexibility to attend out-of-hours

Qualifications

• Significant experience in a planning environment with major applications.
• Strong knowledge of planning legislation and Development Management.

Responsibilities

• Manage and determine complex planning applications, particularly major and strategic developments.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and oversee planning projects from start to finish.
• Work with developers, landowners, stakeholders and elected members.
• Negotiate Section 106 agreements and secure infrastructure contributions.
• Prepare and present reports to Planning Committees and represent the Council at public inquiries.
