Job summary

Osborne Richardson is partnering with a West Yorkshire Local Authority to recruit a Senior Planning Policy Officer for a hybrid contract. The initial term is 3 months with a potential extension, and the role sits inside IR35 at a rate of £50/hr.

You will contribute to and prepare planning policy documents, provide policy advice, and develop monitoring systems using GIS and data to support the Local Plan in meeting statutory requirements. Hybrid working with 2 office days (Tue & Thurs) is offered.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree level qualification required.
• Professional accreditation (RTPI) desirable.
• At least 3 years' experience with UK Local Authorities in planning policy roles.
• Solid understanding of UK town planning procedures.
• Chartered membership of RTPI beneficial.

Job description

Our client is a Local Authority based in West Yorkshire and they require a Senior Planning Policy Officer to join them for a hybrid contract role. This contract will initially be offered for 3 months although it could be extended beyond this. The rate offered is £50/hr Umbrella and this role is inside IR35.

• Contribute to and prepare a range of planning policy documents to maintain an up to date and effective Local Plan for the District, which provides a sustainable development strategy which addresses the District’s priorities and meets statutory requirements.
• To contribute to the implementation of the Local Plan through providing policy advice and guidance, and the preparation and publication of data and information, as required.
• To develop, implement and maintain effective performance monitoring systems in support of the Local Plan, including appropriate data and collection systems and providing information by GIS, digital and electronic means as well as within relevant reports.

To apply for this role you will need a relevant degree level qualification and, ideally, professional accreditation.

You must have at least 3yrs of recent experience of having worked for UK Local Authorities in similar Planning Policy roles and demonstrable understanding of UK town planning procedures, providing a solid foundation for effective decision-making and proven experience in planning policy work.

Holding a Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute would be beneficial.

Our client offers hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in office (Tues & Thurs).
