Job summary

The Planner Jobs Redactive Publishing Limited in the Midlands seeks a Planning Officer (Development Management) for a delivery-focused role. You will take ownership of a significant caseload and progress applications through to determination with minimal supervision.

Experience with Uniform/IDOX is essential, and you will produce clear planning reports and recommendations for householder, minor, rural and residential schemes, with potential extensions beyond the initial 3 months.

Qualifications

• Experience handling a high number of planning applications.
• Strong report-writing and decision-making skills.
• Ability to progress applications through to determination with minimal supervision.
• Experience with pre-application enquiries and appeals is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of a significant caseload and progress applications to determination at pace.
• Prepare committee reports and stage summaries as required.
• Manage householder, minor, rural/agricultural, and residential development applications.
• Provide clear, balanced planning recommendations.

The Role

This is a delivery-focused role. We are looking for someone who can join the team and make an immediate impact with minimal supervision.

The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership of a significant caseload and progress applications through to determination at pace whilst maintaining robust decision making.

The caseload is likely to include:

• Householder applications


• Minor applications


• Rural and agricultural applications


• Small to medium-scale residential developments


• Applications generally ranging up to approximately 30 dwellings


• Pre-application enquiries


• Appeals and associated casework where required


• Committee reports where required

We are looking for someone who:

• Is comfortable managing a high caseload


• Can work independently with minimal support


• Has strong report-writing skills


• Can make clear, balanced planning recommendations


• Has recent experience determining applications rather than managing teams


• Is motivated by delivery and throughput


• Experience using Uniform / IDOX is essential.
