Job summary

Job description

Sefton Council’s Planning Service sits at the heart of economic recovery within the Borough in terms of facilitating major investment and development with some exciting and ambitious projects on the horizon. We are looking for the right person with the right values, experience and ambition to hit the ground running in one of our Development Management teams in an area where there will be significant transformation within the Borough. Job requirements:

You will be responsible for processing planning applications and appeals, providing guidance to applicants, agents, and the general public on matters related to the Planning Service. You will also be required to provide management support and mentor more junior members of staff.

You will need to have a flexible and positive approach to work, along with extensive knowledge of planning legislation and guidance. Ideally you will have experience of working closely with elected members and presenting at a Planning Committee. We require a strong commitment to customer care and the ability to work effectively as part of a busy team.

You must have:

  • A Professional qualification in Town Planning (or equivalent) or extensive experience in a Town Planning role.
  • Significant experience of assessing major, complex planning applications
  • The ability to demonstrate excellent customer care
  • High quality communication skills
  • The ability to present work of a high standard to strict deadlines whilst under pressure
  • Excellent IT skills
