Job summary

Bovis is recruiting a Senior Planning Manager for a major Defence Estate project in Stafford. You will lead planning and monitoring of large/complex projects across all stages, working with the Project Operations Team to ensure timely delivery of bids and projects.

The ideal candidate will have NEC experience, construction planning knowledge, and a proven track record delivering projects of £30m+ in the defence/built environment sectors.

Qualifications

• Ability to produce high standard reports and diagrams.
• Proficient in Excel including formulas and pivot tables.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and monitoring of large/complex projects through all stages.
• Prepare reports and inform Senior Leadership on programme matters.
• Coordinate 4D BIM with BIM Coordinator and chair planning meetings.
• Develop and maintain detailed programmes using Primavera P6 and other tools.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies; liaise with stakeholders.

Job description

We are recruiting for a Senior Planning Manager within our Public Sector division for a major new project in Stafford as part of our Defence Estate Optimisation Portfolio framework with the MoD.

As a Bovis Senior Planning Manager, you will lead and manage the planning and monitoring of large/complex projects to which you are assigned throughout all project stages. You will work with our Project \\ Operations Team to develop the most efficient project methodology and execute the timely delivery of a bids and project, drawing on your experiences. Provide input into the further enhancement of our systems and process and support \\ oversee junior planning staff.

The ideal candidate will have strong NEC experience, construction and planning technical knowledge with a history of leading projects of similar scale in the defence / built environment sector.

Roles & responsibilities:

• The Senior Planning Manager leads and manages the planning and monitoring of large/complex projects throughout all stages, often providing experienced-based solutions for project delivery.
• A key function is to act as 'the project conscience,' preparing reports and documents to inform the Senior Leadership Team and Business Unit on programme matters and critical issues.
• They provide input into enhancing planning systems and processes and typically support or oversee junior planning staff.
• This level often coordinates the 4D BIM model with the BIM Coordinator and assists in chairing weekly planning meetings.
• Develop and maintain detailed project programmes using Primavera P6 and other planning tools
• Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Prepare accurate reports and forecasts for senior management and stakeholders. Facilitate planning workshops and maintain strong communication with Bovis managers, works contractors, consultants and client stakeholders.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, Experience & Behaviours

Skills:

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt approach dependent on the situation and audience.
• Produce reports and diagrams to a high standard to convey proposed sequences and methodologies.
• Strong use of Excel (use of formulae, pivot tables etc).

Knowledge:

• Expert / comprehensive understanding of construction methodology, building technology, pre-construction processes and procurement methods.
• Strong understanding of the primary forms of construction contracts and the key commercial terms.
• Working knowledge of P6.
• Strong knowledge of CPA planning techniques and project controls.

Experience:

• Previous experience in delivering projects with values of £30m plus.
• Able to draw upon experience in multiple industry sectors.
• Experience of working under different forms of construction contracts.
• Strong understanding and experience in the use of P6

Behaviours:
