Job summary

Bovis Group in the United Kingdom seeks a Planning Manager to oversee planning and monitoring of large/complex projects, leading the project planning team and collaborating with the Project Operations Team to develop efficient methodologies and programmes from bid to completion.

You will work with the project team to deliver accurate schedules, reporting, and time impact analysis, while supporting senior leadership with planning insights and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills adaptable to audience.
  • Ability to produce reports and diagrams to a high standard.
  • Strong Excel skills including formulas and pivots.
  • Proficient in PowerPoint for clear presentations.
  • Knowledge of 4D BIM software and modelling.

Responsibilities

  • Develop project planning, programme and delivery strategy for bids and projects.
  • Coordinate preconstruction and construction methodology for efficient delivery.
  • Create the project plan, programme and Planning Report per procedures.
  • Provide data and solutions to support progress updates and dashboards.
  • Assist in chairing planning meetings and tracking milestones.
  • Review change proposals and time impact for projects.
  • Record delays, production rates and benchmarks for future projects.
  • Coordinate the 4D BIM model with BIM Coordinator.
  • Support and develop project team members in planning techniques.

Job description

As a Bovis Planning Manager you will manage the planning and monitoring of large/complex projects, either as an individual or as part of a project planning team potentially from bid to completion You will work with our Project Operations Team to develop the most efficient project methodology and programme and then support the execution of the plan to the timely delivery of bids and projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop in conjunction with the Project Team the project planning, programme and delivery strategy for both bids and projects.
  • In conjunction with the project team, develop the preconstruction and construction methodology to enable the most efficient and effective delivery of the project.
  • Develop the project plan, programme and Planning Report in accordance with our planning procedures.
  • Provide experienced based solutions for delivering the project and consideration by the Project Team.
  • Report project progress at regular intervals against the contract and delivery programmes, or other nominated programmes
  • Support the project team in the creation and statusing of medium and short-range programmes.
  • Project Controls - Produce data to support regular status updates and the weekly project dashboard providing updates on progress and key issues.
  • Prepare \ support reports and documents supporting the role of ‘the project conscience’ to inform the Project Senior Leadership Team and the Business Unit on matters related to programme.
  • Assist in chairing the weekly planning meeting to coordinate project programmes, progress update, delay records and key forthcoming milestones.
  • Review change proposals and advise on time impact.
  • Assess and record time impacts of delays – Event Analysis
  • Record as built production rates and delays to provide benchmarking for future projects.
  • In conjunction with the BIM Coordinator, coordinate the 4D BIM model.
  • Facilitate project team understanding and ownership of the plan and programme.
  • Support the development of Project Team Members in the use of Planning technique and tools.
  • Support and input into initiatives to further enhance our Planning Procedures and Processes
Skills, Knowledge, Experience, Behaviours
Essential Skills
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt approach dependent on the situation and audience.
  • Produce reports and diagrams to a high standard to convey proposed sequences and methodologies.
  • Strong use of Excel (use of formulae, pivot tables etc).
  • Strong Excel (use of formulae, pivot tables etc) and PowerPoint skills.
  • 4D BIM software knowledge.
EssentialKnowledge
  • Expert / comprehensive understanding of construction methodology, building technology, pre-construction processes and procurement methods.
  • Strong understanding of the primary forms of construction contracts and the key commercial terms.
  • Working knowledge of P6.
  • Strong knowledge of CPA planning techniques and project controls.
Essential Experience
  • Able to draw upon experience in multiple industry sectors.
  • Experience of working under different forms of construction contract.
  • Strong understanding and experience in the use of P6.

  • Ability to challenge programme assumptions constructively.
