Job summary

SCS Railways is seeking a Senior Planning Engineer to assist the Planning Manager in developing and monitoring the programme for the HS2 London Tunnels project. You will ensure compliance with planning standards, deliver on access dates, milestones and key dates, while coordinating with BIM, design, estimation and construction teams.

The role requires a degree in civil engineering, prior planning experience in civil projects, and proficiency in Primavera P6 and Tilos.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in planning function in civil engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of asset structures, planning standards, WBS and planning processes.
  • Competence in Primavera P6 and Tilos.
  • Knowledge of Safety, Environment and Risk Management.
  • Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Planning Manager in developing the programme, WBS, calendars and dates.
  • Develop cost and resource loaded programmes during ECI Stage One and Two.
  • Ensure programme meets required access dates and key milestones.
  • Contribute to risk analysis and mitigation measures.
  • Provide planning data to BIM, design, estimation and construction teams.
  • Coordinate with Project Controls Manager and Change Management.

# Senior Planning Engineer### Job IntroductionAssist the Planning Manager to develop and monitor the programme, ensuring compliance with the SCS planning standards and HS2 requirements to provide a safe, efficient and cost effective programme meeting all required access dates, milestones and key dates. In return, we will explore what is possible for the role.## Main Responsibilities* Assist the Planning Manager in development of the programme structure, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), calendars and dates to be used by SCS, aligned with the Cost Break Down Structure (CBS) and Employer`s data dictionary.* Help to develop cost and resource loaded programmes during ECI Stage One and Two with submission in accordance with the required delivery milestones.* Ensuring the programme meets all required access dates, milestones and key dates in compliance with the Employer’s Planning requirements, contract data and works information.* Contribute to assessment of programme risks and programme risk analysis, including development and implementation of mitigation measures.* Interfacing with and provide planning data for other functional teams and stakeholders including, but not limited to: BIM team, design team, estimation and construction and construction.* Working with the BIM team to integrate the construction programme and BIM model.* Progress monitoring and regular updating of the programme, including forecasting of potential problem areas and proposing mitigation measures to the Project Manager.* Cooperation with the Project Controls Manager, Reporting Manager and Change Management in all related construction programme matters.* Liaise with the client’s construction planning team, stakeholders and with other works packages to communicate the SCS Construction Planning approach and to ensure sharing of best practice, innovation and continuous improvement.* Pursuing excellence and continuous improvement of the SCS construction planning approach, modification of standard processes and procedures for effective and continuously improvement.* Assessment of change and PMI’s and communication of impacts as required* Appraisal, review and assessment of supply chain programmes and inclusion in main programme as required.* Maintain short and medium term programmes to ensure main programme objectives are met.## The Ideal Candidate* Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or an appropriate professional qualification* Prior experience in planning function in civil engineering projects* Knowledge of the development and implementation of asset structures, planning standards, WBS and planning processes.* Competence in Primavera P6 and Tilos* Knowledge of Safety, Environment and Risk Management* Strong communication skills## About The CompanyThe role will work on the HS2 project.
