Job summary

Your World Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Principal Planner to join the Strategic Applications team in Havering. The role focuses on independently handling major and strategic planning applications, including large residential and mixed-use schemes, with extensive pre-application and committee involvement.

Applicants should have 4–5 years of relevant development management experience, strong planning policy knowledge and excellent report writing skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Planning or related discipline with continuing professional development.
• RTPI-accredited degree and/or eligibility for Chartered Membership desirable.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a caseload of major and strategic planning applications through submission to determination.
• Assess large-scale proposals against policy, legislation and guidance.
• Negotiate planning obligations and Section 106 agreements with multiple stakeholders.
• Prepare clear planning reports and provide professional advice at various stages.
• Lead on complex cases and support junior officers when required.
• Attend meetings, site visits and hearings as needed.
