Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL is seeking a Senior Planner to join the civil department and base in our Ireland Head Office in Kill, Co. Kildare. You will develop detailed programmes for tenders and support major infrastructure projects across Ireland.

Ideal candidates have circa 10 years' experience in road, earthworks, drainage and marine works, with strong commercial acumen and client-facing skills. You will lead planning efforts, drive programmes and contribute to bid strategies.

Qualifications

• A third level degree in civil engineering or construction.
• Approximately 10 years' experience in road, earthworks, drainage, structures and marine works.
• Experience as Civil Planner with sound construction techniques and good commercial acumen.
• Comfortable in client-facing situations.
• Ability to develop, own and drive programmes and manage sub-contractor programmes.
• A logical, ordered approach and strong planning techniques.

Responsibilities

• Planning using MS Project & Primavera or Asta Powerproject.
• Develop programme strategies for construction and tenders.
• Construct and maintain detailed programmes (MS Project, P6 & 4D) with resource and cost loading.
• Assimilate and interpret information from tender documentation.
• Coordinate with estimators and project teams on programme aspects.
• Prepare mass haul calculations and diagrams.
• Compile concise narratives, phasing, and reports for tenders and projects.
• Manage short-term planning with project teams.
• Take ownership of the programme to drive delivery.
• Contribute and communicate programme information, risks and issues.
• Produce and chair collaborative planning workshops with clients and subcontractors.
• Update and monitor progress; produce reports against requirements.
• Introduce changes in programmes and support commercial teams.
• Evaluate supply chain and subcontract programmes; peer review programmes.
• Comply with business processes and maintain techniques knowledge.

Job duties:

• * Planning using MS Project & Primavera Software or Asta Powerproject.

• * Construct and maintain detailed programmes (in MS Project, P6 & 4D) from first principles including resource and cost loading.
• * Assimilate and interpret information from tender documentation.
• * Co-ordinate with estimators and the project teams on all programme aspects.
• * Prepare mass haul calculations and diagrams.
• * Compile concise narratives, phasing, reports and supporting documents for input into quality submissions for tenders and projects.
• * Manage short term planning with the project teams.
• * Take ownership of the programme to drive project delivery.
• * Contribute, support and communicate programme information, risk and commercial issues to operational teams in a variety of format.
• * Produce and chair collaborative planning workshops with clients, operational teams and subcontractors.
• * Update and monitor project progress, compile reports against project and contract requirements.
• * Introduce and analyse change in programmes and support the commercial teams.
• * Evaluate supply chain and subcontract programmes.
• * Peer review programmes.
• * Comply with business processes and systems.
• * Maintain awareness of latest construction techniques.

What do you bring to the role:

A third level degree in civil engineering or construction.

Circa 10 years' experience in road, earthworks, drainage, structures and marine works.

Previous experience as Civil Planner and a sound knowledge of construction techniques, with a good commercial and contractual acumen.

Comfortable in client facing situations.

A demonstrable ability to develop, own and drive programmes, along with managing sub-contractor programmes.

A clear ability for logical thinking and working in an ordered fashion.

Experience and understanding of planning techniques.

The ability to communicate effectively.

Competent in the use of planning software, (preferably P6) and 4D software - training will be available.

The ability to work to defined, often challenging, timescales.
