Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Senior Town Planner to join its Cardiff team. In this hybrid role, you will manage diverse planning projects across the UK, providing clear, commercially aware guidance and overseeing applications from submission to determination.

You will mentor junior colleagues, network for business development, and contribute to the growth of the Cardiff office while collaborating with clients and authorities.

Qualifications

• RTPI qualified with MRTPI chartership achieved or in progress.
• Experience across planning sectors and development types.
• Experience preparing and managing planning applications.
• Confident in giving planning advice to clients and managing projects.
• Strong understanding of the planning system and commercial awareness.

Job Title: Senior Town Planner

Location: Cardiff

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading independent planning consultancy in the appointment of a Senior Town Planner to join their growing Cardiff team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning professional to join a collaborative and ambitious consultancy, working on a diverse range of projects across the UK while taking on meaningful responsibility and developing their career.

The Role

As a Senior Town Planner, you will:

• Manage a range of planning projects across different sectors.
• Prepare, submit and manage planning applications through to determination.
• Provide clear and commercially focused planning advice to clients.
• Undertake planning research and provide strategic planning advice.
• Liaise with local planning authorities, clients, consultants and other stakeholders.
• Manage project deadlines, priorities and competing demands.
• Support business development and contribute to growing the Cardiff team.
• Mentor and support junior members of the team with their professional development.
• Build and maintain strong client and professional relationships.
• Contribute to the continued success and growth of the wider business.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Senior Planner who is:

• RTPI qualified, with MRTPI achieved or working towards chartership.
• Experienced across a range of planning sectors and development types.
• Experienced in preparing, submitting and managing planning applications.
• Confident providing planning advice to clients and managing projects.
• Commercially aware with a strong understanding of the planning system.
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• An excellent written and verbal communicator.
• Comfortable mentoring and supporting junior colleagues.
• A strong team player who wants to contribute to the growth of a successful Cardiff office.
• Competent using Microsoft 365.
