Job summary

Sir Robert McAlpine in Oxford is seeking a Senior Planner to join a major project delivering state-of-the-art laboratories and research facilities.

You will develop, maintain, and control complex schedules, lead a planning team, and drive 4D and digital tools integration across the project lifecycle, ensuring robust reporting and effective stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of construction methods and planning from first principles.
• Experience managing planning on large, complex, multi-million-pound projects.
• Ability to manage and develop less experienced planners.
• Good understanding of NEC form of contract.
• Experience with Primavera P6 and Powerproject planning software.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and manage all programmes and production control deliverables across the project lifecycle.
• Prepare phasing diagrams, logistics plans, S-curves, resource histograms, and plant schedules.
• Implement robust controls, including forecasting, early warning systems, and KPIs.
• Clearly articulate the planning roadmap and performance measures to project teams, clients, and supply chain partners.
• Question and validate project plans to ensure compliance with targets.
• Contribute to tender strategies, pre-contract planning, and bid submissions.
• Ensure adherence to health and safety standards and company management systems.
• Drive planning and project control innovations, including 4D integration and digital tools.

Senior Planner role

You will be part of a Planning team for major project in Oxford, ensuring robust scheduling, accurate reporting, and effective stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Programme Management: Develop, maintain, and manage all programmes and production control deliverables across the project lifecycle.
• Detailed Planning Outputs: Prepare comprehensive phasing diagrams, logistics plans, S-curves, resource histograms, and plant schedules.
• Project Controls: Implement robust controls, including forecasting, early warning systems, performance monitoring and other Key Performance Indicators.
• Stakeholder Communication: Clearly articulate the planning roadmap and performance measures to project teams, clients, and supply chain partners.
• Challenge & Assurance: Question and validate project plans to ensure compliance with company, regional, and project targets.
• Pre-Contract & Bid Support: Contribute to tender strategies, pre-contract planning, and bid submissions.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to Health & Safety standards and company management systems.
• Innovation: Drive planning and project control innovations, including 4D integration and digital tools.
