Job summary

Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Planner to work with Energy on an OHL project. Ideally based near Ollerton with travel to sites. Murphy focuses on EPC projects and delivers engineering, procurement and construction in the energy sector.

The Senior Planner will assimilate project information, prepare resourced programmes and contribute to risk analysis while coordinating with estimators and designers to ensure timely delivery of temporary works and related costs.

Qualifications

• Experience on major civil engineering and/or construction projects.
• Exposure to OHL or HV power transmission projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assimilate information and summarise it for work scope communication.
• Prepare a resourced programme and review conformance with expectations.
• Contribute to the risk register and perform programme risk analysis.
• Prepare visual material to support planned methods.
• Manage project documentation in an orderly fashion.
• Define methods/outputs with estimator and team, including supply chain as needed.
• Liaise with design engineer to establish a design brief for temporary works.
• Provide the estimator with a justified schedule of temporary works and indirect costs.
• Attend bid review meetings to present work scope and delivery plans.
• Attend handover meetings to confirm work scope and defined tasks.
• Advise project team on feedback reports in consultation with the estimator.

A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Planner:

• Assimilate information and summarise it in a manner that can be used to communicate the work scope to others.
• Prepare a resourced programme, including reviewing the outcome for conformance with expectations and requirements.
• Contribute to the risk register and undertake programme risk analysis.
• Prepare visual material in support of planned methods.
• Manage personally controlled project documentation in an orderly fashion.
• Define methods and establish outputs, in consultation with the estimator and other team members, including the supply chain in appropriate circumstances.
• Liaise with the design engineer to establish a design brief for temporary works.
• Provide the estimator with a justified schedule of temporary works and other indirect cost items.
• Attend the bid review meeting to contribute a clear view of the work scope and the intentions for delivering it by reference to prepared material.

• In consultation with Estimator advise project team of required feedback reports and support.

• Experience on Major Civil Engineering and/or Construction projects.
• Ideally previous exposure to OHL or working on HV Power, Transmission & Distribution Projects
• Use of planning software (P6, Asta, TILOS, QSRA).
• Active experience of working with a wide range of planning techniques in serving both tendering and contract delivery.
• A clear understanding of the commercial and contractual interfaces with the planning function.
